CANON: Final Fantasy XIV

AGE: Mid-20s (if I need to name a number, then 27)
BACKGROUND:
PERSONALITY:ORIGIN
V'seji was a kitten of one of the V tribe branches that resided in the Peaks in Gyr Abania, a self-sufficient group though sometimes duplicitous. The V tribe believed in doing what needs to be done to get results, easily discarding honor if needs be. Despite that, they were a loyal and reasonable group that loved to sing and dance, open-minded to the benefits of outsiders and the like. Unfortunately, V'seji's childhood was a trying time. The rising Garlean threat was rapidly consuming Ala Mhigo, then the rest of Gyr Abania. The V tribe supported the Ala Mhigans, his parents specifically playing leadership roles in the resistance, and therefore suffered repercussions for their aid. Fearing what the rising Garlean power over Gyr Abania would do and how it would influence him, his parents decided to send V'seji along with others as refugees over the border to the Black Shroud.
- Born in the Peaks in Gyr Abania
- Shipped to Limsa Lominsa to escape inevitable Garlean Rule
- Rebelled a lot, ended up on the streets on his own
- Got caught stealing an expensive trinket thanks to Xelha Veldhi
- Adopted by a Lalafell minstrel, Nonoiyv Noiyv
- Life got better as they traveled around, then they settled in Gridania
- Nonoiyv went to the Battle of Cartineau and never came back
- V'seji wasted his life in Gridania instead of properly mourning
- He joined an adventurer Xaela Au Ra girl, Mare Liri
Gridania could only take so many refugees, so what was left sought Ul'dah, then Limsa Lominsa. V'seji ended up in Limsa with the help of other V tribe members that were already established in the City-state. Unfortunately, despite being once a shy and soft-spoken child, he misunderstood the whole situation as his parents abandoning him, then proceeded to lash and act out. Constantly, he would run away from tribe members' aid until they eventually decided to leave him be. V'seji ended up having to learn the hard way how to live on the streets where each day was a struggle for survival. Pick-pocketing eventually became his trade, though he would still get caught by the Dutiful Sisters that parole the City-state. They offered him guidance, a home, and he rejected it out of fear of not only being betrayed, but also losing all of it. He would roam the streets of Limsa a little longer, honing his skills with a knife and polishing his way with words. Sticky yet nimble fingers were still unfortunately in his wheelhouse, too.
In the middle of stealing an expensive item for the day, a Keeper of the Moon kitten (Xelha Veldhi) interfered by stealing it off him and a pickpocket war began. In the end, he stole it back, but was promptly and coincidentally caught by authorities when it was in his possession. He would have been cast back to the Dutiful Sisters since every tribe member relinquished him as their responsibility, but a Dunesfolk Lalafell named Nonoiyv Noiyv stepped up and offered to mentor him. The Sisters and what little V tribe members there to witness the ordeal were keen on the idea. Let the child get perspective was what they thought. Nonoiyv Noiyv was a wandering minstrel, playing her song for so many people in Eorzea, so she offered V'seji an escape from Limsa Lominsa and the life of thievery. It was, yet again, another chance for him to lead a life worth living.
Despite the grand travels, they didn't get along at the beginning... V'seji still kept habits that were difficult to break, likewise a selfish mindset to secure survival despite not needing to steal to live anymore. V'seji heavily skewed doing whatever you could to get what you wanted, to keep a sharp eye on those who approach you, that people were just not... good and all of that stayed with him. In comparison, Nonoiyv believed in seeing the good in every person, that they should never resort to violence or crime, but would allow some shenanigans for a good reason as long as no one got hurt. Eventually, they grew on each other and he respected the way she sees the world. He picked up better habits while traveling with her, finally breaking the looting, too. He shared many of his later childhood and teen years with her, traveling the Crystal to share songs with the people. She showed him the world can be beautiful.
The founded family V'seji had didn't last long. Though they eventually settled in Gridania before their next big trip, Nonoiyv decided to go to the battlefield when Eorzea called its citizens to arms against the Garlean threat at Cartineau (7th Umbral Calamity). He was asked to wait at home until she came back. She didn't. He fell back onto old habits, caring more about monetary gain than anything and only appearing when there was an opportunity to make big coin. Fortunately, he didn't pickpocket as tempting as it was, keeping to heart her saying that earning your keep was much more fulfilling. However, earning is very broad and he used whatever means that would make his life easier. He went as far as using the Echo, a newly found ability, to benefit him when possible. It was an empty, unfulfilling, and fleeting life.
When he wasn't around to collect money, he isolated himself from all until he saw a Xaela Au Ra girl (Mare Liri) walked into Gridania one day and asked for beginner adventurer tips. It reminded him of his travels with Nonoiyv, so he decided to help Mare out and join her. His excuse was... Getting good loot, but he feared what staying in Gridania as he was would do to him.A REALM REBORN
V'seji spent most of A Realm Reborn with Mare being regular adventurers until they picked up some more to add to their party. Vhaya Atheris, an Elezen also from Gridania, and Xelha Veldhi join. Fortunately, V'seji and Xelha didn't recognize each other since the mishap in Limsa was more than a decade ago. For the most part, they investigated rumors for dungeons, went on hunts in all the regions available to them, but eventually they caught word of Primals. Those in their group with the Echo, including V'seji, decide to help their masked Warrior of Light in their fight against these god-like beings, but... For V'seji, he only lent a hand when it was convenient for him. Otherwise, he stuck to helping those in Mor Dhona and riding the coattail of being considered one of the Warrior of Light's "friends." Along the way, he became close to Mare, Vhaya, and Xelha, harboring a comradeship that felt so foreign to him. The downside was learning more about them and discovering Xelha was the reason he was caught by authorities that day. Impulsively, he lost his cool as memories of living on the streets of Limsa surfaced, lashing out at Xelha and straining their relationship.
- Mostly did dungeons and hunts!
- Vhaya Atheris, an Elezen from Gridania, and Xelha Veldhi joined the party
- When the call for adventurers to fight the Primals come, V'seji joined with his friends sometimes
- Learned Xelha was the reason he got caught long ago and lashed out at her, straining their friendship
- Mostly, he took advantage of the Warrior of Light's adventurer friend title as much as he could
- When WoL was on the run, he felt indebted with using their name and sought to help them
- WoL rumors led him to R'yoji Khota in Coerthas and he forced him, who he thought was the WoL, to join their party, then take them to Ishgard
He reaped what he could from the honor he knew he didn't deserve to the very drop, at least until the Warrior of Light was on the run after Nanamo's assassination. With an odd sense of duty and debt, he thought he should at least assist the Warrior of Light in their escape. The problem was he didn't know what the Warrior of Light looked like, but he followed rumors that led him to R'yoji Khota in Coerthas. He persuaded the other Miqo'te to take him and his party (even Xelha since he can't get rid of her) to Ishgard—there's strength in numbers was his advice, though he was thinking about the potential of goods that haven't set foot out of the Holy See in years. Never in his travels had he seen Ishgard, so why not?HEAVENSWARD
Their party gained access to Ishgard thanks to an Elezen from Dragonhead that believed R'yoji to be the Warrior of Light. Having arrived after the real Warrior of Light, they didn't need to interact with the Temple Knights until they got into trouble later on. The people of the holy City-state would mistake them as the Warrior of Light's adventurer friends or the Warrior of Light, giving them leads and easy access to the information network. Though they fought against Dragonkind for a "just cause," it was the first time V'seji witnessed so much bloodshed and sorrow. He had seen death before, but in such large numbers without any reprieve changed him.
- They mostly fought Dragonkind for the Ishgardians and help around the City-state, but V'seji tried to find answers for the violence in it all
- While real WoL unearthed the secret of the Dragonsong War, V'seji and the party tried to solve a weird string of deaths in the Brume
- Deaths were caused by a mage wanting to pact with a Voidsent and the party quickly interfered
- Voidsent (Findchóem) was already brought into the world, hiding in the orphan girl they were taking care of, and they summon their Leader
- The party fights the leader, Setanta, but Findchóem had a change of heart and helped them. A piece of her resides in V'seji's fat cat minion (Croissant).
- After the Voidsent ordeal, they fought Nidhogg alongside the real WoL, finally figuring out R'yoji was never the WoL
- V'seji reconciled with Xelha over their shared past and scolded R'yoji over his reckless behavior
- V'seji returned to Gridania to resolve the Ixal conflict with a new companion he met at the inn, Kilian Khyran
As the real Warrior of Light set to unearth the secrets of the Dragonsong War, V'seji looked into the unexplained chain of deaths in the Brume since no one else did. What was behind the murders was not the Ishgard cold, but a sorcerer looking to summon and make a pact with a powerful Voidsent. They believed that the Dragonsong War will not end if Ishgard won't reach out for powers beyond the City-state's boundaries. After some more investigation, they found the next sacrifice location and caught the mage before they could have sacrificed another child. While R'yoji wanted to slay the mage there and then, V'seji advised they take the mage to the Knights as a heretic and tend to the child first.
The child was quiet, possibly traumatized from the whole experience, and was in their care for a period before delivered back to the Brume when a couple offered to adopt her. Unbeknownst to them, the Voidsent already entered the Source and possessed this girl that time they caught the mage. It began feasting upon the populace when it spent time with them and after, lapping up enough aether and then some to rip a rift for its leader. V'seji and the party were quick to act, but was met with crocodile tears by the Voidsent when they confronted it.
The Voidsent was called Findchóem and they were once a person just like them. It spun a tale about how they came from a crystal no different from this one, but it all turned to darkness when their heroes fell with the rise of a white magicite. All it did was buy time until it brought Setanta, its leader, from the rift. The party battled the grand Voidsent that sought to bring more of their underlings until they milk this world dry of its aether, but struggled to keep pace. Findchóem, for some reason, decided to betray Setanta. Using the aether they collected, they sacrificed themselves in an explosion that subdued Setanta. When questioned why Findchóem did this, their only answer was that V'seji and his friends remind them of people that they can't seem to remember. It was an odd fondness and a small piece of her rests inside V'seji's fat cat minion.
With the end of their Voidsent detour, Nidhogg dared plague Ishgard while using Estinien as a vessel. This was when they join the real Warrior of Light to vanquish Nidhogg once and for all. Seeing Nidhogg's rage over history so long ago pushed him to reconcile with Xelha and scold R'yoji over his impulsive, edging suicidal, behavior.
The party went their separate ways for a bit, leaving V'seji with a lot to think about after the Dragonsong War. He returned to Gridania to make himself busy, having heard of the Ixal's rising hostility. He met Kilian Khyran, a Gunbreaker Hrothgar, at the inn when seeking more info on the beast tribes' behavior. They get into a scuffle, then somehow end up working together to subdue the Ixal. After that, V'seji looked to learn some new tricks and picked up different classes.STORMBLOOD
With the Garlean army having their sights back on Eorzea, he decided to aid the City-states in their front to push the Garleans back. The party again reformed under one banner, this time R'yoji voluntarily joining. However, when word of liberating both Kugane and Ala Mhigo spread, he enlisted himself to aid that cause as well in what hopes to maybe see his home in the Peaks again. For most of Stormblood, he worked in information gathering and spying with others. Once they claimed Castrum Abania, he fell back to aiding the army as a healer, gaining more exposure among the resistance and meeting familiar faces. Some of the tribe members and his parents, all fighting for the resistance once more, recognized him. It was a reunion he wished he didn't need to endure, but found himself filled with warmth, anyway. Despite the war-torn land, they treated him like he was still one of them, as strange as it felt.
- Offered aid to the City-states to face off the rising Garlean threat
- Supported the liberation of both Doma and Ala Mhigo
- Met some of his tribe and his parents after the acquisition of Castrum Abania
- His father asked him to return to the tribe, but he rejected it so he could keep traveling with his friends and aiding both the Eorzean Alliance and the Scions
After Ala Mhigo stripped itself out of the clutches of the Garlean Empire, his father who was now the leader of the tribe asked him to come back. There wasn't any room in Gyr Abania for their tattered tribe anymore, but they could settle elsewhere and start life anew. He rejected rejoining the tribe, saying he wanted to keep on being an adventurer, but he would help them settle somewhere as much as he could. When finally both Doma and Ala Mhigo attained freedom, V'seji guided his tribe through Eorzea for a new home. Once they found a place in Thanalan, V'seji continued his journey after leaving his fat cat minion with his parents.SHADOWBRINGERS
During Shadowbringers, V'seji worked on the Source to stop Black Rose with everyone else. When other duties called, like his tribe needing help assimilating to a new area, he would provide aid. He also visited friends as well, though most were playing their part in combating the Garlean army. Once in a while, he would visit R'yoji Khota in Gridania to make sure his friend was still alive under all the research. Yeah. That's it.
The people of Eorzea would say that V'seji seems like a stellar guy—resourceful, kind, humorous, and a great wielder of a silver tongue. He makes great company as friend or lover, especially when no conversation ever stales. He revels in attention and will shower you just in kind. On the other hand, some few would say he's a vile demon that led them astray or ruined their life. Both interpretations are true.POWERS/ABILITIES:
V'seji presents himself as an optimistic pacifier, offering a soft smile and kind words when needed. Unfortunately, all of that comes from absolutely nothing—holding no weight at all. In his core, V'seji is an opportunist that prioritizes his self-interest. From watching his home and tribe slowly dissipate due to the lack of rations and fighting to live in Limsa Lominsa, he didn't feel he had enough room for anyone else as a child. Unfortunately, it followed him to adulthood where his mind first processes a situation on how anything can become an advantage. He's willing to do a lot of things, good and bad, to get what he wants. Emotionally manipulating those that may rely on him isn't below him. In the end, he isn't optimistic or a pacifier at all, but a pragmatic predator and encourages others to also put themselves first. It lessens after witnessing the bloodbath of the Dragonsong War firsthand, but he's still willing to use underhanded tactics for a good cause or his friends.
As much as he's a profits kind of guy, he isn't quite that ambitious, but more laid-back. Instead of hitting the markets constantly, possibly starting up his own shop, his heart is still set on adventuring thanks to his childhood with Nonoiyv. His interest in money comes from his desire for a comfortable life, a large contrast from his time in Gyr Abania and Limsa Lominsa. Every mention of participating for loot is only a half-truth. More money is always nice, but he's a curious Miqo'te that wants to witness what many haven't laid their eyes on. He does, unfortunately, suffer from one of the many dualities of man. He's a busybody for tasks and goals that benefit him, he's genuinely interested in, or for people he's interested in while more willing to weasel his way out of it if his interest is nonexistent.
When a person becomes less of a stranger, he starts showing his true affectionate and mischievous self. To those he actually likes (and children), his kindness starts ringing true. Thanks to his guardian's influence, he's quite keen and intuitive to nuanced shifts in others, then finds himself taking care of them. Some would call him motherly because, while he does enjoy teasing and being a nuisance to his friends, he genuinely enjoys pampering, spoiling, and supporting them. Honesty comes with the package; even spiteful honesty is meticulously cured for those he deems worthy. For a select few, he would even put his life on the line for their safety or their cause. It's difficult for him to create ties due to his past, but when he does, his devotion is undying. It comes with its downsides. While he looks after others, he tends to not let them return the favor. He's rather reclusive when it comes to himself, finding it better if he doesn't burden others with his problems or issues when they have so much on their shoulders already. It gives him the comfortable distance he wants. Generally, he doesn't like being indebted to friends nor strangers, anyway.
For some time, he hasn't picked up a melee weapon of any kind in fear that it'll spark his pugnacious side that stems from sheer survival instincts. Too much adrenaline turns into blood lust, especially during dire times. He doesn't want to scare people... Plus, it doesn't do well for networking most of the time. Dabbling into Red Mage helped him gradually overcome the problem, now finally becoming a proper Ninja by Stormblood, then Dark Knight and Dragoon towards the end of the Stormblood patches. He doesn't keep complete composure, but he's more self-aware.
Overall, he seems independent and well-adjusted, but his guardian's death still has its clutches on him. Having already felt that he was abandoned by his tribe and parents, then having the only person that ever mattered and cared for him ripped away, leaves a psychological scar that hasn't healed. The underlying fear of being abandoned and left alone puts up his walls. He once tried desperately not to care about others and to not expect anything kind from them, all while saying he's fine on his own. Even now, he instinctively keeps himself emotionally guarded, subconsciously terrified of spiraling into the void if any of his friends were to fall. On top of that, he has long questioned his worth because of it, presently manifested as his stern stance on not being a hero of any fashion. V'seji sees himself as a bad influence and bad company more than a loving and loyal friend, believing he can't move forward if he disillusioned himself. While he has come to terms and admitted to these horrible coping mechanisms at the end of Stormblood, he's still in the process of correcting them and the bad habits he developed over the years.
In the end, V'seji earned whatever love or hate he received throughout his life. He is still growing as a person, but he's a lot happier now with who he is and the people who surround him than he was before. This time he seeks to do what's right.
As a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te, V'seji naturally can withstand long hours under the blazing sun. Not only that, Seekers are blessed with strength, agility, and stamina. Otherwise, with having larger ears than a Hyur, he's better of hearing, then having a tail gives him better balance.INVENTORY:
ECHO - What one would consider a blessing from Hydaelyn herself. While V'seji isn't the Warrior of Light, he does possess the Echo, though one less intense. The Echo allows him see flashbacks of the past and also sense disturbances in the aetherflow. As a note, his visions are rare and short in comparison to that of the Warrior of Light's and he isn't an expert in interpreting aether. The echo also protects him from being tempered by Primals and provides him understanding of all languages. I won't be playing out the Echo without player permission.
STOP, THIEF... - V'seji is unfortunately very crafty with his sticky fingers. He's well versed in picking locks and pockets, though he seldom uses those skills nowadays. With all the time he spent stealing and selling his stolen goods, he has acquired an eye for quality. It doesn't take him long to tell when something's a counterfeit or if it's not worth the amount asked for.
DARK KNIGHT - Tank
WHITE MAGE - Healer
ASTROLOGIAN - Healer (i think he hates himself)
RED MAGE - Caster DPS
NINJA - Melee DPS
DRAGOON - Melee DPS
- A small bag of Soulstones (White Mage, Astrologian, Dark Knight, Ninja, Dragoon, and Red Mage)
- Star globe (glamored to Canopus)
- Lance (glamored to Seeing Horde Lance)
- Greatsword (glamored to Cronus)
- A journal
- Sol, a lesser panda minion
